PERSONNEL STRUCTURE
At historical faculty 28 teachers work. The personnel structure (without pluralists) looks as follows:

SCIENTIFICALLY RESEARCH WORK
For last 15 years at historical faculty 14 master's theses and 2 doctors were protected. Continuing to develop traditional approaches and directions of historical researches, historians of university successfully master also new research spaces, strengthen contacts to adjacent humanitarian and social disciplines. They enter new sources in a scientific revolution, develop and apply the approaches adequate to modern requirements of a historical science.
4 basic directions of scientific work today were defined: macro-historical researches, problems of a microhistory and daily occurrence, archeologic researches and a technique of teaching of a history.
Developed historians of faculty of idea have found reflection in publications on etnogenez slavs, political idea XVIII in., to problems of agrarian transformations XIX in., political life of end XIX-of the beginning XX ââ. A circle of problems XX in. Covers a significant layer of the new plots which are earlier not investigated by virtue of inaccessibility of archival materials. These are such central themes of left century, as a history of revolutions and civil war in Russia, a problematics of new economic policy, including the analysis of activity of local authorities (councils), their mutual relation with party and other public organizations, problems of peasantry and working class, their social difficulties, relations between city and a village, other social and economic and social questions of a history of Fatherland. The important place in scientific creativity the problem of the Soviet rear within Great Domestic war borrows, and also questions of culture, education and intelligency in the post-war period. Results of these and other researches are discussed on traditional readings of memory of professor S.I.Arhangelsky's and other scientific actions.
In 1990th within the framework of a general historical direction have received development of research at a level of a microhistory and a history of daily occurrence, the rate on the anthropological approach was planned. The All-Russia scientific conference "Homo belli - the person of war in a microhistory and a history of daily occurrence", organized by faculty to a 55-anniversary of the Victory had the big success. The accent on reflection of war in consciousness, and destinies of people has drawn of life attention to a theme not only historians, but also psychologists, êóëüòóðîëîãîâ, sociologists, philosophers.

Not one decade develops at historical faculty study of local lore traditional for many high schools. Scientists of historical faculty appeared are ready to introduction in study of local lore of new research approaches, first of all historical-culturological and historical-anthropological. Formation of historical building of Russian cities of the Nizhniy Novgorod territory, a history and a life of inhabitants of Nizhni Novgorod by Romanovs, a history of general educational establishments, cultural life of inhabitants of the Nizhniy Novgorod region in the first quarter XX in. - the incomplete list that of reports and publications of last years.
Alongside with historical researches at faculty intensive archeologic researches are conducted. They are connected to studying old russian cities on Volga: Gorodec and Nizhni Novgorod. Senior lecturer T.V.Guseva supervises not only performance natural works. Together with Archeologic service of city new technologies of studying and protection of a cultural layer of the historical occupied places are developed. Results of archeologic researches are known far outside region, the information on them repeatedly sounded on the international congresses.
Distinctive feature of historians of pedagogical university is professional development of questions of a technique of teaching of a history in general educational establishments. The range of researches within the framework of this direction is extremely wide: from recommendations for studying separate historical themes up to innovational technologies. Alongside with historical researches at faculty are conducted intensive by rather perspective direction for historical faculty there was a studying theoretical questions of a historical science, receptions of translation of historical knowledge through high school. The decision of first of these problems is solved on the basis of the potential which has been saved up by chair of a general history. The heightened interest of historians of foreign countries to problems of methodology of a history in due time has woken head by chair in 70 - the beginning of 80th the professor N.I.Smolensky, the large expert in the field of a historiography and methodology of a history, the associate editor of magazine "New and newest history".
Scientific work of historians NSPU is carried out in close cooperation with scientists of other high schools and the academic institutes: Institute of the Russian history of the Russian Academy of sciences, Institute of archeology of the Russian Academy of sciences, scientifically research institute of cultural science of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation
STUDENT'S LIFE
Students of historical faculty under the right are considered as leaders and innovators not only in study, but also in nonlearning actions. Forms of this activity always differed a variety and student's sharpness. Students of historical faculty in 1986 have begun tradition of Day of faculty. Today Day of faculty - one of the most long-awaited events both for students, and for teachers of university.

Many undertakings of historians appeared are completely unique. The well-known political club "Impromptu "which born within reorganization and has united at the sessions of students and teachers, involved visitors from all city. Popularity of annual student's conferences "my family in a history of the country" which can accumulate and interests of students of other faculties grows. The best at university bulletin board newspaper "Chronicler", a literary magazine "Test", the most popular team of Club Cheerful and Resourceful, original competition amateur songs - all this students - historians. Only at historical faculty with fun and a spontaneity of youth regularly pass elections of Emperor and Patriarch Istfakii, and on a stage together with students workers of dean's office and teachers act with variety numbers.
During the existence the historical faculty has done a way, provided to it a worthy place among faculties of pedagogical university. The scale sociopolitical changes happened in the country, have forced teachers, students, dean's office to solve complicated problems - from revision of sights for a historical science up to questions of unappropriated activity. Today historical faculty - stably developing structural division NSPU uniting collective of professionals of a high level, having qualitative structure of students. Steady traditions of continuity of generations of scientists and teachers, serious achievements in educational, scientific, publishing spheres, an organic combination of creative aspirations of teachers and students allow historical faculty to look with optimism in the future and to aspire to new achievements.
HISTORY OF FACULTY
In 1918 in the Nizhniy Novgorod pedagogical institute literary historical faculty in which the sociohistorical cycle engaging in preparation of the pedagogical staff of historians operated was created.

The faculty of Russian and the literature was incorporated into 1951 with historical, and to middle of 80th the common efforts of historians and philologists have provided glory to legendary historical-philological faculty of pedagogical institute.
Since February, 1986 the recreated historical faculty exists as independent division NSPI-NSPU. Difficult work on becoming new historical faculty, finding of "person" by it, was executed by first its deans: Evgeny Pavlovich Titkov,( Nowadays rector of the Arzamas pedagogical institute), è Valentin Mikhailovich Mezhenin.
In different time at faculty the outstanding scientific, remarkable lecturers and instructors of student's youth worked: M.N.Lyadov, G.D.Obichkin, K.Y.Strazdin, N.P.Sokolov, N.P.Kireev, S.N.Chernov, N.M.Dobrotvor, V.T.Illarionov, V.P.Kustov, S.I.Murashov, N.I.Smolensky, V.M.Strogecky, E.V.Kuznecov.
During the existence the historical faculty has prepared thousand experts. Among the graduates of faculty the schools, deserved the teacher, of RSFSR I.A.Ivanova, E.P.Ivanzhina, Y.R.Morozov, E.M.Ravvina, A.S.Serebryakova. Many graduates became the eminent scientists. One of them - vice-president of an Academy of sciences USSR P.N.Fedoseev, the known domestic philosopher. Our faculty was ended by the professors V.P.Fadeev, M.N.Bahtin, A.V.Sedov, N.V.Trushenko, A.M.Izutkin, V.G.Dyadkin, F.G.Evgrafov, A.A.Benediktov, N.D.Shimin, G.M.Sazontov, D.V.Kopylov and others.
The historical faculty has given "the permit in life" to the large number of the large administrative workers, among which two ministers of government of the Nizhniy Novgorod area, number of the responsible workers of administrations of a various level three chiefs of our high school, head by a regional department of national education, director of a grammar school. The former students of historical faculty make a significant part of teaching structure of high schools of city and country, supervise over faculties and chairs.
Today historians of pedagogical university, continuing the best traditions of the predecessors, were based on modern understanding of historical process, develop problems of a domestic and general history, improve techniques of teaching of historical disciplines.
